SASSA PAYMENT DATES FOR VARIOUS GRANT CATEGORIES

The payment dates are structured as follows, based on the release by the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) for the 2023/24 financial year:

• Older Persons or Pensioners Grants: Tuesday, 5 March 2024
• Disability Grants: Wednesday, 6 March 2024
• Children’s and all other Grants: Thursday, 7 March 2024

The first week of the month is designated for elderly, child, and disability grant payments, followed by Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant recipients and other grant categories.

OFFICIAL SASSA GRANTS INCREASES CONFIRMED FOR 2024

During the 2024 Budget Speech delivered to Parliament by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana, it was confirmed that permanent SASSA grants would be increased to keep pace with inflation and enhance access. The increases include:

• An additional R100 to old age, war veterans, disability, and care dependency grants, with R90 effective from April and R10 effective from October.
• A R50 raise for the foster care grant.
• A R20 increment for the child support grant.

IMPROVEMENTS TO THE SRD GRANT BY APRIL

Finance Minister Godongwana acknowledged the rising cost of living for the millions of South Africans reliant on these grants and announced plans to enhance the COVID-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant by April 2024.
