ORLANDO PIRATES THRASH KAIZER CHIEFS IN SOWETO DERBY

Orlando Pirates faced off against against fellow Soweto Giants and football arch-rivals, Kaizer Chiefs in what promised to be an exciting Soweto Derby. Soccer fans across the country were not disappointed as the Sea Robbers put on quite a performance which ultimately earned them a win against AmaKhosi.

Kaizer Chiefs were fresh off their first win of the year against Golden Arrows the week before. The Glamour Boys and coach Cavin Johnson were still brimming with confidence when they went into last weekend’s Soweto Derby.

Buccaneers coach Jose Riveiro shared how happy he was with his team’s performance despite the club’s injuries. The coach also acknowledged the need to address immaturity issues within the club as well as to bridge the gap between their best and worst showings.

“This is the version of Pirates that we would all like to see in each game, understanding that we are not perfect in the end.

“We need to ensure that our best version is close to our worst. That’s showing excellence in whatever you do. And football is not an exception.: coach Jose Riveiro said.

ORLANDO PIRATES AND KAIZER CHIEFS PUT ON A GOOD FIGHT

After securing a sweet win against Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates have cemented their place as the Kings of Soweto. The win has also given coach Jose Riveiro renewed hope in his plans for the club. The coach had previously shared ambitions for the club to enjoy a strong hold in the DStv Premiership having already guaranteed their spot in the upcoming CAF Champions League. While they only hold the second spot in the DStv Premiership, coach Riveiro is confident it’s only a matter of time until they take the throne.

Kaizer Chiefs, on other hand, desperately needed the win against Orlando Pirates. Coach Cavin Johnson had previously shared his ambitions for the club before the clash. Johnson had said securing the win would have brought Kaizer Chiefs one step closer to securing their spot in the CAF Champions League. The recent loss has knocked the wind out of Kaizer Chiefs’ sails after they had boasted new confidence after their win against Golden Arrows the week before.

CHALLENGES AND AMBITIONS BEYOND THE SOWETO DERBY

While he was pleased with the way his team played in the Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs, coach Jose Riveiro reiterated that consistency was key in ensuring the strength of the team. He shared his hopes of maintaining the level of excellence Orlando Pirates displayed against Kaizer Chiefs. While he acknowledged that the game was extremely tense, he reiterated that he expected excellence regardless of the circumstances surrounding the games.

Looking forward, coach Riveiro shared his excitement for the Sea Robbers‘ prospects at the CAF Champions League. He had seen his side put on a brave performance throughout the season and had high hopes for their performance on a bigger stage. Despite a few and unfortunate setbacks and missed opportunities in previous games, Riveiro was confident that Orlando Pirates could still put up a good fight in the DStv Premiership and that the CAF Champions League would be the club’s opportunity to redeem themselves and push for growth.
