In an official statement, GOOD Secretary General Brett Herron announced that the party took action after they received a complaint against Peter de Villiers from a party member.
Herron went on to highlight the party’s commitment to addressing issues of sexual misconduct and gender-based violence.

Herron emphasized the party’s unwavering stance on gender relations and the prevention of gender-based violence, affirming that all members, regardless of their position, are subject to the party’s constitution.
De Villiers’ suspension serves as a precautionary measure, pending the outcome of disciplinary proceedings aimed at determining any breaches of the party’s constitutional provisions.

POLITICAL CAREER FROM SPRINGBOKS TO GOOD PARTY
Peter de Villiers, known for his tenure as the Springboks coach, transitioned into a carrer i politics and was sworn in as a member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament in May 2023, representing the GOOD Party.
Before this, he had contested the mayoral elections in 2021 and held positions as a councillor and caucus leader at Drakenstein Municipality. He expressed his commitment to public service when taking up his parliamentary role.
