Israeli national airline El Al announced on Friday its decision to discontinue direct flights to South Africa due to a notable decline in demand from Israeli travellers to the region and other destinations.

In an official statement, El Al confirmed that it would halt its operations on the Johannesburg-Tel Aviv route from the end of March 2024.
