The Proteas will be without the services of key seamer Lungi Ngidi when they face India in a three-match T20I series starting this Sunday.
The 27-year-old fast bowler sustained a left lateral ankle sprain during training, ruling him out of the entire T20I series.

LUNGI NGIDI OUT OF THE INDIA SERIES
Initially slated to be available for the first two matches of the series alongside Gerald Coetzee and Marco Jansen, Ngidi’s injury has disrupted the Proteas’ plans.
The fast bowler, who last played during the league stage of the 2023 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, will undergo rehabilitation under the guidance of the Proteas medical staff after being released from the T20I squad.

Although his participation in the upcoming Test series against India later this month remains uncertain, Ngidi’s evaluation will precede any decision regarding his involvement.
Replacing Ngidi in the T20I squad is left-arm seamer Beuran Hendricks. If included in the playing XI, this will mark Hendricks’ return to international cricket after a two-year hiatus.
